The basket which is played remonte with has its origin in 1904, driven by the player Juanito Moya, a slight player, which together with the cesta-punta player Aguirre devised this tool to deal with other more burly opponents, against whom faced in the glove mode.

The result was a tremendous success, and thanks to the design of the basket this player could extend the ball farther and faster than any other player.

Galarreta is the biggest court of the Basque Country, that is why it is know as the Cathedral of remonte or “the Temple of the Basque pelota”. There are host the most important remonte tournaments, including the individual one which takes place in summer and the spring couple tournament whose end is at the end of the year.
